Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and Residential Building Density -

9/13/23 - Tell the HHI Planning Committee to hold residential building density on HHI to current levels until AFTER District Planning is completed. Comments will close at 4:30 pm September 13, 2023. Suggested comment:

"CURRENT Average residential FAR on Hilton Head is 0.32. Max FAR should NOT be increased by, in some cases, 100% or more because of investor interests. Max FAR and Max Sq Ft can and will be revisited during the District Planning."

This is necessary to prevent monstrous short-term rental buildings like those on Bradley Circle. NOTE: FAR = Floor Area Ratio = Living Area of Home in Sq Ft / Area of Lot in Sq Ft. See photos for examples of FAR below.
